SMOS-MODE Cost Action

Short Term Scientific Missions

Manager: Brian Ward

Short Term Scientific Missions (STSM) will be both focused to promote the capacity building and also to let people acquire new methodologies in different laboratories. At least 4 STSMs per year are planned to promote the exchange of mainly Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) during the Action. To ease the implementation of the corresponding procedures, the figure of the STSM manager has been introduced.

All the members of the ES1001 COST action are encouraged to apply for the COST-funded Short Term Scientific Missions (STSM). This funding scheme allows researchers (PhD students, post-docs, PIs) to visit any institution (including private) located in any of the countries involved in the SMOS-MODE action.

This is an excellent opportunity to build collaborations and transfer knowledge for the benefit of SMOS-MODE.

The budget is a maximum of €2500 for periods of 5 days to 3 months, and €3500 for 3-6 months (the latter only available to early-stage researchers, which is a PhD student or PhD graduate+8 years).

Applications should be made online at http://www.cost.esf.org/stsm at least 4 weeks before the mission starts, and the mission must be completed within the funding cycle. The current funding cycle is 01/01/2012 - 31/12/2012.
