The workshop will be organized within the framework of the research project E-Wave, co-funded by the Republic of Cyprus and the European regional development fund of the EU through the National Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development & Innovation 2009-2010 by the Research Promotion Foundation of Cyprus. The E-Wave Project aims at the development of an integrated, fully operational high resolution system for monitoring the energy potential from sea waves at the Exclusive Economical Zone (EEZ) of Cyprus

Scope and Objectives of the Workshop:

The Workshop aims at bringing together all the key stakeholders interested in wave energy: industrial experts, academic researchers, policy makers, regulators etc. The main scope of the workshop is to present the results of the project focusing on:

  • > An integrated, high resolution system developed for monitoring the energy potential from sea waves at the Eastern Mediterranean Levantine Basin
  • > New Physical and Mathematical models for the prediction and quantification of wave energy in short and long forecasting horizons
  • > Beyond the above subjects, the workshop is open to presentations on any new advances on wave energy research and industrial application.

Who should attend:

  • > Members of the research community aiming at exchanging novel results, sharing similar experiences or new applications of the wave energy.
  • > Decision makers, including resource managers and policy developers, interested in exchanging ideas with the scientific community on the types of information most      useful for their needs
  • > Representatives of international organizations willing to share relevant experience on renewable energy exploitation
  • > Companies interested in investing on renewable energy
  • > Individuals who wish to be informed on new advances and tools for the wave energy estimation and exploitation

To ensure participation, in the Wave Energy Workshop please fill in the participation form and return it to organizers not later than 30 th March 2012. More information is available on the web http://www.oceanography.ucy.ac.cy/ewave
